Real Life Superheroes!

In Year 1, this half term’s topic was Real Life Superheroes.
During this topic we learnt about significant people and found out what they do to make things better for others and discuss why they are real-life superheroes.
We had some special visitors that discussed their jobs/ roles and how they help the community.
Nurse Samantha and Nurse Aishah, paediatric nurses from Croydon University Hospital from the Rainbow Children’s Unit came to visit us for an informative and hands on afternoon.
The Year 1 children learnt how to wrap a bandage, use a stethoscope to hear faint internal body sounds and learnt about all the different equipment used by nurses for patient care.
We were told how nurses may help us or a family member if we went to the hospital.
Thank you Nurse Samantha and Nurse Aishah, you helped us appreciate the care, kindness, and dedication of nurses, fostering a sense of gratitude and empathy towards healthcare professionals.
