All about Eid

hildren at Winterbourne Nursery and Infants have been learning how their Muslim friends celebrate Eid.  Indoors and out all of our children in the EYFS have been finding out new things and many of our children have been so excited to share their religion.

Have a look at some of the pictures form EYFS including one child in the role play area showing his friends how he prays.  We started with an Eid assembly on Monday and there has been appropriate music in the dinner hall to help children to be calm and thoughtful. These are some of the things children said about looking forward to Eid

Rukhsana – McKee:
When it’s Ramadhan, for Suhoor, when it’s midnight you wake up and eat dates because it gives you lots of energy to help you when you’re fasting. During Ramadhan I help poor people and give charity because Allah asked me to help the needy.  On Eid my family and me get dressed up into fancy clothes and then we go to the Mosque and our relatives house and we eat a big feast.  My favourite is chicken pilau.

Sara – Dahl:
On Eid day, I wear a special dress and go to the masjid with my mum and cousin.  My aunty gives me presents and I hug her and say thank you and Eid Mubarak.

Asad – Andersen:
On Eid day I give presents to my friends and family. I go to the mosque with my mum and dad and pray and say Eid Mubarak to everyone.

Nibrasse – Andersen:
During Ramadhan we give charity, which means giving money to people who don’t have enough food to eat. On Eid I like going to the mosque and eating Sfouf.

Khadijah – Briggs:
My daddy and brother go to the mosque to pray to Allah and my mummy and my sister and me, we read our sabaq (Quraan) and pray namaaz, before I pray I have to do wudhu and then I bow down to pray to Allah. My mummy decorates the house for Eid with lights and makes yummy food.
