Reception Update!!
Learning Highlights ๐
This week, our book of the week was So Much by Trish Cooke. The story celebrates the love within a family as everyone comes together to surprise Dad with a birthday party. It also explores how much the whole family adores and cherishes the new baby.
The children explored the theme of families and extended families, sharing their own experiences and talking about the special people in their lives. They discussed different celebrations, including birthdays, and how families come together to make special memories.
Through a range of exciting activities, the children created pictures of their families and had opportunities to talk about the people who are important to them. They also made their own birthday party lists, using the phonics sounds they have learnt so far. For example, they used b for balloon and c for cake, applying their early phonics knowledge to meaningful writing.
Student Work ๐จ
We have loved seeing the childrenโs family portraits and birthday party lists! These activities provided wonderful opportunities for the children to express themselves, celebrate their families and practise their early writing skills.
School Promotion ๐
Reception children have shown fantastic enthusiasm when sharing their experiences, listening to their friends and celebrating what makes each family special. It has been lovely to see them developing their speaking, listening and early literacy skills through meaningful, real-life experiences.
